12 WAYS OF PLEASING GOD AND KEEPING IN STEP WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT.

 Galatians 5:16-18
So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever[a] you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
walking in the spirit requires total dependence on Jesus who  left us the holyspirit who is a, comforter, guide, counsellor. God cannot leave us alone because we are helpless in our flesh. as it is written that the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak(matthew 26:41).
pleasing God and walking in step with the holyspirit involves the following disciplines.

1.Have a personal relationhip with Jesus.
John 1:12 to them that believed Him, He gave the right to become children of God
when you accept Jesus as your lord and saviour, you have a relationship with God and you have the ability to Obey God at His standard of Righteousness. this is the first step of pleasing God. Because that is a response to God's love to the world         ( John 3:16).
2. pray in faith.
Every relationship depends on communication. speak to God about every thing that concerns you and trust in God  that He will help you. for without faith it is impossible to please God.( Hebrews 11:6). it is useless to pray when we know God is not going to answer your prayers!!! . therefore it is important to pray and believe God for results.

3. Read the word of God.
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path( psalms 119:105) the word of God will teach us how to live in obidience to the Holy spirit.

i have hidden thy word in my heart that i may not sin against you ( psalms119:11)
the word of God keeps us from sinning
to keep in step with the spirit of God, we ought to spend time in God's word. that will keep us obidient to God

4. pray in the spirit.
But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit ( jude 1:20)

Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks(john 4:23)
if you are filled with the Holy spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues, you can pray in the spirit. however if you have not been filled with the Holy spirit yearn for this gift, speaking in tongues helps us to pray in the will of God.

5. disobey the flesh's desires.
Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to him as instruments of righteousness (Galatians 6:12-13)

6. flee from tempting situations.

Flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart( 2nd timothy 2:22)

And she[Portiphar’s wife] caught him[Joseph] by his garment, saying, Lie with me: and he left his garment in her hand, and fled…- Genesis 39:12.
7. Aim at  pleasing God by  renewing the mind.

Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will( Romans 12-2)

8. shun bad company.
Do not be misled: "Bad company corrupts good character.( 1st corithians 15:33)

Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? (2nd corithians 6:14)

"Therefore come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you."(2nd corithians 6:17)

9. live a life style of worship.
worship enables the presence of God in our lives. the Holy spirit dwells in a worshipping atmosphere.

10. keep in fellowship of believers.

Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another--and all the more as you see the Day approaching.( hebrews 10:25)

11. maintain the spiritual discipline of Tithing, offering and Giving

Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it (malachi  3:10)

Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."  (luke 6:38)

It is more blessed to give than to receive.'"( Acts 20:35)

12 have  respect for Righteous spiritual leaders

"Do not touch my anointed ones; do my prophets no harm ( psalms 105:15)

(Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them ) john 13:7
                             Be blessed

7 disciplines of a good worship leader by David santistevan

Good worship leaders are no different. They’ve learned to develop certain disciplines that make them effective at what they do. Here are what I would call “7 Disciplines of a Good Worship Leader”:

1. Lead out of your story

  • Are you leading out of a ‘NOW’ faith or yesterday’s encounter?
  • What has God brought you through?
  • What is God currently doing in you?

2. Worship extravagantly behind closed doors

  • Who are you when there are no lights, stage, band, etc?
  • People see right through a fake worshiper
  • Before God blesses your worship ministry, he may teach you how to worship behind the scenes for a while. Maintain that discipline.

3. Constantly improve your craft

  • Personally – practice your instrument; practice your weak areas (speaking, transitioning, flowing)
  • With your team – create a fun, disciplined culture; challenge your musicians; allow input but know what you want. Musicians like to feel their opinion matters, but they also like to be led well; put front end work into rehearsals

4. Pastor your worship team

  • Worship with your worship team
  • Prepare yourself and your team for the spontaneous

5. Passionately embrace the vision of your senior pastor

  • If you don’t agree with your senior pastor’s vision, it might be a sign that you’re in the wrong place.
  • Local church worship leading isn’t a platform for your global worship enterprise or a place to push your own agenda. Get under your pastor’s vision and pour yourself into it.

6. View the worship service through the lens of your congregation

  • People don’t care about your slick production, powers stances, and air-tight arrangements. They want to connect with a heart that loves and pursues Jesus.
  • Minimize distractions so when it’s time to lead worship you can focus on your congregation and Jesus.
  • Practice hard, but don’t just perform great arrangements of worship hits. Connect with the people. Connect with God.
  • The best worship times are usually what happens in between your well-rehearsed songs.

7. Pursue an ever-expanding view of God

  • A.W. Tozer – “What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us.”
  • Nothing inspires worship more than amazement. Seek each day to become more and more amazed by the glory of God.
  • What books are you currently reading to expand your view of God?
  • Do you view your Bible reading as a worship experience?
